Weather
At the end of October the weather is used to be fine. Even if it could be sometimes rainy the weather is generally rather warm and pleasant from 10 to 15 degrees above zero during daytime (but about 0 at night) with sunshine and very slow wind. But everything could happen and as the organizers cannot make any influence to weather it is recommended to see a forecast before coming to Moscow.
Money Exchange
It is possible to change money in the hotels and authorized banks or exchange offices at the daily exchange rate. Credit cards are widely accepted in hotels, restaurants and shops and in major hotels you may find ATMs for cash withdrawals by credit card (VISA, Euro/Mastercard). In the city center there are some ATMs accepting ec-card, but these are seldom to be found.
Safety
Moscow in general is a safe place. However, the usual safety precautions have to be taken as in any other major city in the world.
When booking the hotel through our Travel Agent we strongly recommend to also book their pick-up service at the airport rather than taking a taxi.
Walking around and do shopping is not a problem. However, do not wear any valuable (expensive cameras, watches etc) too open to others. Please be aware of pick-pockets. It is strongly recommended to leave valuables in the safe of your hotel and lock your hotel room door.
Do not share taxis with strange persons and do not accept food and beverages from strangers, because they may contain narcotics.
Electricity
The voltage in Russia is 220 Volt/50 Hertz.
Sockets are West European standard.
Communication, Interpreter and Business Cards
An interpreter is strongly recommended because only a few Russian business partners speak English. Furthermore, business cards are very important means of communication. They should be translated into Russian.
